Smoke and Mirrors

The present investigation to the non-criminal allegation of Trump collusion with Russia is an effort to keep the public’s attention away from the multitude of criminality committed by the Obama Administration and the Clintons. The investigation has dragged on for months without anything worthwhile to report except sensational headlines. Each allegation is enough of a distraction for most Americans to give them a knee jerk reaction by presenting a negative picture of Trump despite the lack of evidence.

This is not new in American History. A friend, who is Danish, said it reminded him of the headlines that induced war hysteria against Spain prior to the Spanish-American War.

William Hearst’s New York Journal and Joseph Pulitzer’s New York World competed with each other to produce anti-Spanish stories through “yellow journalism” headlines. The attempt to outdo each other and increase circulation with exaggerated headlines eventually played a major role in the US ultimately declaring war against Spain.

“Fake news” was part of yellow journalism. They created atrocities where none existed. For instance, Hearst sent American artist Frederic Remington to Cuba to sketch the Spanish atrocities. Remington could find nothing and made his view know to Hearst. Hearst allegedly replied, “You furnish the pictures and I’ll furnish the war.”

My friend’s wife admitted she reacts to the sensational reports on TV and accepts them at face value. She doesn’t look at the facts or veracity of the stories. She reacts but doesn’t investigate.

Her reaction is what I found with most Americans particularly liberals. They see the headlines and hear the TV propagandist but it stops there. They don’t want to know the facts. In conversation after conversation with liberal friends and relatives they get angry if I present facts that they cannot refute. It is enough that they believe it.

This is why Mueller’s unrelenting investigation goes on and on. He and his minions are searching for some way to discredit President Trump. They are aided by the sensational unproven accusations thrust before the public day and night by the liberal press and media. It is the modern equivalent of the Hearst and Pulitizer yellow journalism.

It is smoke and mirrors designed to keep the public’s attention from focusing on the liberal far left series of crimes and misdemeanors. Here are a few examples:

  • the selling of 20% American uranium by Hillary Clinton to the Russians
  • the admitted airport meeting between Loretta Lynch and Bill Clinton to exonerate her
  • Benghazi
  • the questionable issue of fisa  warrants against Trump associates
  • the spying on Americans by the National Security Agency
  • the sending of hundreds of billions of dollars to Iran by Obama in what may be money laundering
  • the destruction of thousands of e-mails and computer hard drives by Clinton and her staff
  • the IRS illegally targeting conservatives

This is a small list but none of it is being investigated because Sessions, Rosenstein and Mueller are using smoke and mirrors to make it appear that Trump is not fit to be president. It is a distraction. He poses a danger to their far left agenda. While the public, especially liberals, are focused on the alleged improprieties of Trump the real law breakers are not being investigated. They are proving that crime pays.
