History Was Made Today

Donald Trump’s press conference today was an epic moment in history.  He set a new precedent for all future presidents who have business enterprises or who are connected with business enterprises.  By giving up all connections with Trump Enterprises to avoid conflict of interest, he established himself as an honest man of his word.  Even though the president is exempted from the government law, it was not enough for him. He went above and beyond the law because he wants an honest administration that will work for the American people and not work to gain and retain political power or profit from their government position. WOW!

In addition, he announced that all profits from his foreign investments will flow into the coffers of the U.S. Treasury. This is a gift to the American people. The money can be used in a variety of ways including paying down our national debt.  This has never happened in American history before.

Add to this list the fact that he will appoint an ethics expert to sit on the Board of Directors of Trump Enterprises is also a first.  The ethics chief must sign off on all future dealings of his corporations to insure there is no conflict of interest or violations of ethic principles. Even Ivanka, his daughter, must vacate her connections with Trump Enterprises because her husband has been proclaimed a senior advisor to President Trump.

By this single act today, a new era in American politics has dawned. Honest has now become more than a word bandied about by politicians.  It has become a standard to be judged by for the future.

Although Trump is not officially the president until January 20th, he is already an acting President in words and deeds.  It is refreshing to see a higher standard being imposed on the federal government.
