Tonight on the Fox News program with Meghan Kelly, it was revealed that President Obama has ignored the intelligence on the growth of ISIS. According to Retired General Michael Flynn, former head of the Defense intelligence Division, accurate intelligence was given to the president not only by his department but by 16 other departments about the growth and danger of ISIS.
General Flynn stated that Obama’s Administration has for years down-played the rise of ISIS and deliberately “cooked” the ISIS intelligence reports to conform to the president’s public speaking assertions. He said on the record that the investigation should focus on the White House.
Flynn made it clear that the President depends upon a small cliché of political advisors. This is not new because it has been reported over and over again by a multitude of diplomats, politicians and former cabinet officers. His chief advisor is Valerie Jarrett who he depends upon more than any other.
The U.S. Central Command, which is responsible for all military matters pertaining to the Middle East, has been providing comprehensive intelligence about the Islamic State threat to Obama. Since that intelligence did not match the Obama’s narrative about it being a “JV Team” the analysts of the Command were told by e-mails to “cut it out” and “toe the line.” When the e-mails became known there was an attempt to destroy the communication from the White House according to a Pentagon official.
The New York Times was the first to break the news that there is an investigation by the Pentagon Inspector General into the e-mails. So this cannot be construed as a right-wing conspiracy since the Times is known as a left-wing publication.
In addition, the House Intelligence Committee has launched its own independent investigation into the affair. Over the past couple of weeks the heads of the FBI, CIA and Homeland Security have all contradicted what the president has been saying. Even Senator Diane Feinstein, a Democrat, vehemently contradicted the president’s narrative on the danger of ISIS. She told CNN that she faithfully reads the intelligence reports and the president is wrong.
What was perhaps more interesting on Meghan Kelly’s program was Maajid Nawaz who was an admitted former Islamic radical. When asked if the term Islamic radical should be used by the Democrats, he said “Yes!” As a former radicalized Moslem, he said the term needs to be used because “It has everything to do with Islam.” He pointed out that using the term will help to isolate the radicals. He didn’t agree with the idea that it would alienate the main stream Moslems. So here is a former radical who also says that the Democrats are wrong in their rhetoric.
So here we have a president and his political party ignoring intelligence and avoiding using a term that a former radical says should be used. Why? Why does a president put politics above the security of his nation and the safety of its citizens?
