Poverty Level Grew Under Obama and Democrats

Here are the hard statistics from a Census Bureau Report on poverty.  It highlights the failure of the Obama and the Democrats to stem the poverty rate in the United States and wasted $20.7 trillion in the process.

Today, there are over 50 million Americans living below the poverty line as defined by the Obama Administration in 2012. The base line is $23, 495 for a family of four.

At the beginning of 2009, there were 37.6 million in poverty.  13 million more people descended into poverty after Obama became President.  In 2007, the poverty rate was 12.5% under Bush. For the last three straight years, the poverty rate has remained at 15% plus which is a new record.

47 million participate in the food stamp program.  This is an increase of 13 million since Obama became president.

One of the major factors for the increase cited by the liberal Center on Budget and Policy Priorities was single parent households.  When the War on Poverty began under President Lyndon Johnson, only 6% of births were outside of marriage.  Today, it is 42% despite the fact there is cheap birth control. It is interesting to note that the increase in birth control methods has not decreased pregnancies and has spawned more poverty.  So birth control is not a solution.

Another fact has been the stagnant economy and the high unemployment rate.  The Census Bureau Report cited that at least 26.4% remained in poverty over 34 months since 2009 which was the beginning of the Obama presidency. Democrats tout that 12.6 million escaped poverty during that period which is true; however, the Census Bureau reports that 13.5 million went into poverty during the same period for a net loss.  The Democrats commit the “sin of omission” by not mentioning that important fact.

Democrats are going to run on “income inequality” and “wealth redistribution” in 2014.  Indeed, there has been a widening gap between the rich and poor according to the Census Bureau.  Despite the rhetoric, it has been the Democrats and Obama who created the gap as proven by the statistics.  Yet you can be sure they will blame the Republicans.  It seems the motto of the Democrats is “We never take responsibility or admit we are the problem for the nation’s economic woes.”  No wonder our nation is deeply in debt and declining.
