Today, October 29, 2013, it was admitted by House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer that the Democrats knew for years that many people would not be able to keep their health insurance plans despite what President Obama said. This admission confirms the conspiracy of silence to deceive the American people about the true nature of ObamaCare.
In an attempt to rationalize the lies they been spreading for years, Democrats claim that people need the extra coverage mandated by the Ten Essentials (See my blog – ObamaCare’s Ten Insurance Essentials). It doesn’t matter what people need or want or how much they can afford. The Democrats will dictate to individual Americans what they think they need and want. It is no longer a matter of choice as much as you will do what we want you to do.
When confronted about Obama’s repeated promise to the American public that people can keep their present health insurance and keep their doctors, Hoyer responded, “It was not precise enough…[it] should have been caveated with – ‘assuming you have a policy that in fact does do what the bill is designed to do.” What a crock!
The bill originally did grandfathered (health care plans would be exempted from the provisions of ObamaCare) pre-2010 health care insurance plans. After the law was passed by the Democrats who never read it, it was changed in a way that negated the grandfathered provision. Sebelius’s HHS Department and the IRS wrote into law that any change in a person’s health care policy would remove the exemption and a person who have to get a new policy that conformed to the Ten Essentials of ObamaCare. The changes could be anything ranging from premiums to type of coverage. This important change in the law was not publicized in any significant way but it was caught by the Tea Parties who tried to alert the American public.
Now President Obama never makes an off-the-cuff speech. He always has prepared speeches which is why he is never without his teleprompters. Either Obama or his speechwriters could have easily written into his speeches the precision needed to alert the American public about this legal change. Congressional members could have also told their constituents about the change so they would be more knowledgeable about the law. But no, the public was not informed in a significant way by any Democrat.
In 2014 many of these Democrats will be up for re-election. A good question to pose for them would be, “Why did you not inform us about this rewritten provision so we would be forewarned?” If they claim ignorance, then why did Steny Hoyer say that the Democrats knew three years ago? Also, if they beat around the bush or try to explain it by saying you will have better coverage, then why is the coverage costing more rather than $2,500 in savings that Obama proclaimed?
They will blame the insurance companies to escape culpability but the companies are only responding to the law. Why would the companies cancel policies and lose money? It is a weak argument to deflect responsibility.
If you Congressional representative or Senator didn’t reveal this vital piece of information, can you trust him/her to represent you? You have to wonder what other pieces of information are they withholding? Can you trust them?
