Politifact Rates Obama Administration Statements On Benghazi “Mostly False”

On May 13, 2013 Obama said, “Over the last several months, there was a review board headed by two distinguished Americans, Mike Mullen and Tom Pickering, who investigated every element of” the Benghazi incident.”

Rating by Politifact was mostly false.

Pickering’s own statements on CNN made that clear in responding to a question by Candy Crowley on CNN’s State of the Union. “Candy, that was not in our mandate. We were looking into security, security warnings, security capacity, those kinds of things. And so, I have been very clear that since it wasn’t our mandate, I didn’t do the investigation.”

Politfact pointed out that the FBI was in charge of investigating the attack not the review board. Obama’s statement is false, false.

In the Vice-Presidential debate, Biden was asked this question by moderator Martha Raddatz. “What were you first told about the attack? Why were people talking about protests?… And they wanted more security there.” Biden’s response was, “Well, we weren’t told they wanted more security there.”

Rating by Politifact was mostly false.

State Department employee, Eric Nordstrom, told his superiors twice that the embassy mission needed more armed security. In a July cable, Nordstrom requested 12 guards plus military trainers according to Politifact.

Charlene Lamb, a deputy assistant secretary at the State Department, confirmed she opposed the security team in Libya. Nordstrom also made a verbal request to a State Department officer in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs. “His response to that was, ‘You’re asking for the sun, moon, and the stars.'”

Although Biden may not have been personally told of the request, Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State had to be aware of the security request as head of the department.

Finally, Jay Carney was also caught in a few lies. Carney claimed that Susan Rice didn’t play down terrorist involvement in Benghazi and there were only “stylistic changes” made to her talking points.

Rating by Politifact was mostly false.

Recently released White House documents and House Committee testimony clearly demonstrated the false statements of Susan Rice and Jay Carney. Rice emphasized the so-called anti-Muslim video repeatedly in her TV appearances ( just watch them) and the talking point changes were major edits by the White House and not the CIA or other agencies as Carney claimed.

The big question is why? What motivated the White House to lie to the American public?

When the government lies like this you know they are hiding facts. So many false statements have been made by the Obama Administration they can’t keep track of them. This Administration never, ever takes responsibility for its actions when they have a negative impact. They stay true of Chicago politics by blaming others for their errors and mistakes. Unfortunately all the Democrats who defend his administration are just as guilty of employing Chicago politics when they aid and abet the cover-up by defending obvious falsehoods.
