This week I had a visit from a college roommate who is a retired Chief Accountant for a major corporation. He told me of his pessimism for the future of our nation. His pessimism was based on conversations with liberals in his community. He told me how one neighbor told him that the economy was doing okay. When my roommate cited the unemployment rate, the number of foreclosures, the $16 trillion deficit and the national debt, the response he got was that it was all lies spread by the Republicans. He could not believe the man’s response. It was typical of what he heard from his communities’ liberals.
I told him that my experience was that liberals don’t let FACTS interfere with their thinking. In conversations with liberal family members or friends, they know little or nothing about what was going on with the economy. In addition, their chief source of information is the comedian Jon Stewart of the Daily Show. What does that say about the mentality of liberals?
My experience is that when you bring up details about what is wrong with the economy, the eyes of liberals glaze over and they don’t want to hear about it. They freely give their uninformed opinion but when it is counter with facts, they refuse to listen. This has happened so often that I have given up trying to reason with liberals.
As my deceased father, who advocated using common sense and was a Democrat, would say, “You can’t argue with stupidity!”
